Who'd you tell first? You were looking to tell someone weren't you - "Hey did you know PTC's putting Pro/INTRALINK on the Windchill platform? Oh, you did, hunh?" What's more important being the first to know the news about Pro/INTRALINK 8.0 or being the first to know how to use it?

Listen if you like being ahead of the crowd and in-the-know about everything Pro/INTRALINK - I think you're going to get a lot out of our Pro/INTRALINK Community. Along with the other bloggers here, I love what I do at PTC and helping people who use Pro/ENGINEER, Windchill, and Pro/INTRALINK get the most out of out products. I suspect that moving over to Pro/INTRALINK 8.0 from Pro/INTRALINK 3.X will probably be a lot like the transition you made from Pro/ENGINEER 2001 to Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire. The familiar Pro/INTRALINK commands are there in 8.0 - but they're more integrated than ever with Wildfire. To help you make the transition, I'll use this blog to highlight productivity tricks and tips for using Pro/INTRALINK, particularly pointing out short cuts.

PTC has put together a bevy of options for making the transition to Pro/INTRALINK 8.0 - aloing with the instructor led training options from PTC or our VARS we're getting out a Menu Mapper just like the ones available with Wildfire and Wildfire 2.0 for Pro/ENGINEER 2001 users. The new menu mapper will show you the corresponding picks in Pro/INTRALINK 8.0 that you've become so familiar with in Pro/INTRALINK 3.X.

Got something you want us or others in the Pro/INTRALINK community to know about Pro/INTRALINK 8.0? Go to our forums - these are on-line discussion boards to exchange tips and suggestions about Pro/INTRALINK 8.0.

First tip - "Integrated" is faster! You'll find that in Pro/INTRALINK 8.0 there may be a lot of ways to do the same thing - we did that to make it easy to find the commands right where you are in the product and to give you a range of options with varying levels of power and complexity. That said - the fastest way to get things done in Pro/INTRALINK 8.0 is almost always the most integrated flavor of a command. Example? Check in. With a Pro/ENGINEER dataset in Wildfire session, and couple of objects modified - from the Pro/ENGINEER menu, choose File > Check In > Auto Check In. The modified objects in session will be checked in (new objects will go to the target folder set in your workspace preference) and it will be done in the background - like Word does for printing - so you can continue modeling in Pro while the check in finishes. "Integrated" is faster!
